VisionLabs has announced the deployment of its computer vision and biometric capabilities in more than 60 educational institutions in Russia.
The first to witness the installation of new technologies were the Far Eastern Federal University, Kazan Federal University and Tomsk State University, as well as three schools.
After these initial deployments, VisionLabs stated that it intends to complete the installation of its biometric software in approximately 40 institutional environments by the end of the year.
From a technical point of view, VisionLabs' computer vision system can independently analyze the video stream of the camera and alert employees when an incident is detected.
This can be achieved through behavioral analysis technology, which is used to identify potentially dangerous situations, such as people lying on the ground, in a shooting position, or raising their hands.
In addition, the VisionLabs system also integrates an access control system with facial recognition and temperature detection functions, as well as a facial biometric payment system that can be used in cafeterias, refreshments and campus vending machines.
“Integrating these solutions into the security systems of educational institutions is very important because it can significantly shorten response time in emergencies and restrict unauthorized access to schools and universities,” explains Stanislav Kuznetsov, Vice Chairman of the Sberbank Executive Board .
Kuznetsov added: "[It also] can realize automatic temperature measurement, not to mention convenient functions, such as if someone does not have cash or a bank card, they can use facial recognition to pay for meals."
So far, VisionLabs has deployed a new camera-based system after the busy last quarter of 2021. The company recently collaborated to launch a new biometric facial recognition payment system in Moscow, and soon after the new payment terminal .
